In response to the release of the film Exorcism here in the UK, I thought I'd weigh in.
Spiritual Dictionary
Exorcism– from the Greek Exorkismos, meaning: ‘to bind by oath.’
Exorcism is to cleanse people, or places, from unclean entities. In the case of Places – it is used to free a location from infestation by ‘unquiet souls’ (Earth-bound), Poltergeists or malevolent spirits.
The exorcism of People is to free individuals whose physical bodies have been taken over (possessed) by demons. Demonic Possession should not be confused with mental illnesses.
An authentic Exorcist undergoes special training and empowerment.
